Hull vs Chelsea Preview
Chelsea travel to Hull on Saturday afternoon where they will look to put a disappointing September behind them. With only three Premier League goals scored last month, and all of them coming from Diego Costa it has meant a lean spell in front of the drawing board for me. However Hull have already shipped 9 goals in just two games against Wundergol opposition so I'm expecting to be a lot busier in the coming week.
Chelsea are yet to hit top gear this season and if you look at the bigger picture it should come as no surprise. With a new manager comes a new style of football. Having played the Mourinho way for so many years, Chelsea fans should be fairly familiar with results that don't really suggest they are battering teams, but instead, do show they are in total control of games. With an Italian at the helm I would expect those sorts of performances to be more common than ever.
It would appear that in Diego Costa, Chelsea have a man who will knock goals in for fun this season but without anyone else really chipping in they don't look like hammering too many teams. I can imagine that Chelsea fans might be concerned that if they are to play the Azzurri way then the defensive players they currently have aren't quite up to the controlling caliber of Chiellini and Bonucci.
From my point of view I already get the feeling that unless something drastic changes I will be the least busy of the Wundergol artists this season. I'm not suggesting Chelsea wont be challenging for the title - the Italian style of play has always served the national side well - however it just doesn't tend to go hand in hand with five goal drubbings week in week out.
